Wine Description:

Morellino di Scansano is an Italian wine appellation in southern Tuscany. This wine was born in the territory of the Tuscan Maremma, in the vineyards and in the cellar of Scansano. The wines are dry reds from the Sangiovese grape variety, known here as Morellino. They are produced in the rolling coastal hills around the medieval village of Scansano.

The nose reveals beautiful notes of small red fruits, spices and a light note of goudron, to embellish the olfactory profile. On the palate it is full and balanced, with mature and well-developed tannins, of great persistence. Perfect to accompany red and white meats, it is ideal with cold cuts and cheeses. The

Tenuta Torciano Winery is situated in the heart of Tuscany, 35 minutes from Florence and 20 minutes from Siena, surrounded by beautiful rolling hills and a succession of unique greenery that features towering cypress trees, long stretches of beautiful vineyards, olive groves, forests of oaks and lovely villages.

Area of Production:

Scansano's viticultural origins date back to Etruscan times, and the quality of the local wines has been documented for centuries. This quality is largely due to Scansano's particular mesoclimate, itself created by a combination of factors.

The official viticultural zone covers a roughly square area about 25 kilometers (15 miles) across, topped and tailed by two rivers, the Ombrone in the north and the Albegna in the south. Scansano village itself lies towards the north of this area, just a few miles away from the Ombrone.

Grapes:

The Sangiovese grapes are born in the beautiful 12-hectare vineyard, with 20-year-old vines and others that are younger. The harvest begins in October and the vinification is done in steel tanks with maturation for a period of 12 months.

The refinement of the wine in the bottle continues for six months. This is an elegant and well-structured red, capable of satisfying the palate both in the short and long term.

Torciano Collection:

"MONOGRAM TT" The new collection of Tenuta Torciano wines is born with the monogram TT, formed by the letters T and T in overlapping gold accompanied by other artistic motifs already present in the mosaics of the Siena Cathedral, the logo designed by Luciana Cilemmi in collaboration with Giulia Falciani, as a new brand to make the wines and products of the Tenuta Torciano winery recognizable, which in its 300 years has become one of the most recognizable wineries in the world.
